Engineered segmental block retaining wall holding back a grass slope along a road in the Lower Mainland

// Surrey & Lower Mainland

Wherever your slope is, we know the soil, the climate, and what holds up out here.

Surrey

If you're looking for a retaining wall contractor in Surrey, BC, we cover every neighbourhood across the city. From South Surrey and White Rock north through Newton and Whalley up to Cloverdale, Fleetwood, Guildford, and Panorama Ridge, we know this terrain. Surrey is one of the most geologically varied cities in Metro Vancouver, and that variation changes how every wall gets designed, drained, and permitted. The soils shift from dense glacial till to soft marine clay to sandy fill, sometimes within a single block. We've built on narrow infill lots in Whalley, steep hillsides in Panorama Ridge, and long acreage slopes in Cloverdale. We know what the City of Surrey's building department wants to see in a permit package because we've submitted dozens of them.

South Surrey

South Surrey is one of the most active areas for retaining wall work in the Lower Mainland, and as your local retaining wall contractor in South Surrey we're working here regularly. The area from Crescent Beach and Ocean Park up through Morgan Creek and Elgin Heights sits on a mix of glacial till with a tight clay cap, and the slopes facing the ocean and the valley are steep and wet. Stepped block walls are the most common project we build here, protecting driveways and garden terraces from the soil pressure that builds up during our wet winters. The grades are real and so is the drainage challenge, and most walls we build in South Surrey get a full clear-crush chimney and daylighted drain pipe as standard.

Crescent Beach · Morgan Creek · Elgin Heights

Cloverdale

Cloverdale's larger lots and acreage properties make for some of our most varied retaining wall work, and as your retaining wall contractor in Cloverdale we're out here regularly. The rural character means more boulder walls and long terrace runs than you'd find in denser Surrey suburbs. Horse paddock cuts, sloped rear yards on acreage, and hillside driveway access around Clayton Hills and Hillcrest all call for walls that can handle serious grade change. We own the equipment for that kind of work, and we know which local quarries stock the right stone. Whether it's a single block wall on a residential lot or a multi-tier boulder system on a five-acre property, we do the site visit and give you an honest quote.

Cloverdale Fairgrounds · Hillcrest · Clayton Hills

Newton

Newton is one of the most densely developed areas in Surrey, and as your retaining wall contractor in Newton we see a consistent pattern: long sloped backyards on lots that were graded quickly during the 1980s development boom. The fill on many Newton lots wasn't properly compacted at the time, and 40-plus years of wet winters have caused settling, wall movement, and drainage failures throughout the area. We build new retaining walls to create usable flat grade for patios and play areas, and we rebuild failing walls where the original drainage and base work never met the standard. King George Boulevard and 72nd Avenue are the addresses we see most.

Newton Athletic Park · Bear Creek Park · Strawberry Hill

Whalley & City Centre

Whalley and City Centre are Surrey's fastest-growing neighbourhoods, with infill lots and laneway house projects driving a lot of retaining wall demand. As your retaining wall contractor in Surrey City Centre, we deal with smaller lots where every square metre of yard counts. Tight tolerances, walls that are often right on the property line, and engineering requirements that other contractors overlook are all part of the landscape here. A property-line wall in Whalley isn't a DIY block-stacking job. It needs an engineer's letter for the City of Surrey permit package and it needs to account for the neighbour's drainage and property rights.

Surrey Central · Holland Park · Gateway

Fleetwood

Fleetwood is one of Surrey's most established neighbourhoods, and the mature tree canopy that makes it beautiful is also one of the main challenges for retaining wall work here. As your retaining wall contractor in Fleetwood, we deal with root pressure on aging walls more often here than almost anywhere else in Surrey. The established Doug firs and western red cedars around Fleetwood Park and Tynehead put serious lateral pressure on walls that were built before root intrusion was part of the design conversation. When we rebuild in Fleetwood, we dig out, cut the invasive roots cleanly, treat the root ends, and install geogrid reinforcement so the new wall can handle the ongoing pressure.

Fleetwood Park · Tynehead Regional Park · Coyote Creek

Guildford

Guildford sits on hillside terrain above 104th Avenue and the sloped lots here drive steady retaining wall demand. As a retaining wall contractor in Guildford, we handle terrace projects, driveway retainers, and front-yard wall replacements regularly. The concrete crib walls installed in many Guildford subdivisions in the 1970s and 80s are now well past their engineered service life and are beginning to fail visibly. Segmental block and armour stone are the standard replacements, and both are significant curb appeal improvements over the old crib walls. We carry samples so you can choose the block colour and finish that suits the house.

Guildford Town Centre · Surrey Bend Regional Park · Port Mann

Panorama Ridge

Panorama Ridge has some of the steepest residential grades in all of Surrey, and homeowners here need a retaining wall contractor in Panorama Ridge who understands what engineered walls require. The view lots above Mud Bay are spectacular, but the same topography that creates those views creates serious slope management challenges. We build tiered wall systems here that step down the hillside and give homeowners flat, usable space at every level. The drainage requirements on these walls are significant: clear-crush chimney, geogrid, daylighted drain pipe, and a proper top-of-wall grade to shed surface runoff before it gets behind the wall.

Panorama Ridge · Sunnyside Acres · Mud Bay

White Rock

White Rock's hillside is one of the most distinctive landscapes in Metro Vancouver, and as a retaining wall contractor in White Rock we build on those slopes regularly. The older homes above Marine Drive sit on steep, sloped lots where winter runoff coming off the road above and soft soils below create the conditions for wall failures. We build walls here to protect views, preserve driveways, and hold back a hillside that decades of rain have been slowly working on. Done right, a White Rock hillside wall is a 50-year asset that looks better over time and pays for itself in avoided foundation and landscaping repairs.

Marine Drive · White Rock Pier · Five Corners

Langley

Langley is acreage and large-lot country, and as a retaining wall contractor in Langley we handle the kind of projects that smaller operations can't. Long terrace runs on rural properties, boulder walls along horse paddock cuts, and multi-tier systems on hillside lots in Willoughby and Walnut Grove are all regular work for our crew here. The Township of Langley has its own permitting requirements for walls over 1.2 metres, and we've submitted enough Township permit packages to know exactly what their building department wants to see. We coordinate the engineering, submit the package, and build to the stamped design.

Walnut Grove · Willoughby · Fort Langley

Delta

Delta's geography splits between flat Ladner and the elevated hillsides of North Delta and Tsawwassen, and as a retaining wall contractor in Delta we work across all three areas. North Delta's hillsides above Scott Road have steep residential grades that call for engineered block and tiered wall systems. Tsawwassen's upper benches have a different challenge entirely: soft marine clay and soils influenced by tidal activity that make every wall design a more careful exercise than you'd run on Surrey's glacial till. We do a soils check before we quote because what works in one part of Delta won't work in another.

Tsawwassen · Ladner · Sunshine Hills

Richmond

Richmond is famously flat, but that doesn't mean retaining wall work is absent. As a retaining wall contractor in Richmond we handle garden walls, entry features, planter terracing, and low-grade retaining projects across Steveston, Terra Nova, and Richmond City Centre. The challenge in Richmond isn't the slope, it's the water table. The Lower Mainland's highest water tables are found in Richmond, and drainage for any wall here is a fundamentally different problem than in Surrey or Burnaby. Water doesn't percolate the way it does on higher ground, so we engineer our drainage systems to daylight or sump rather than rely on soil absorption.

Steveston · Terra Nova · Richmond City Centre

Burnaby

Burnaby Mountain and Capitol Hill give this city some of the most dramatic residential grades in Metro Vancouver, and as a retaining wall contractor in Burnaby we tackle some of our most technically demanding engineered wall projects here. The steep hillsides above the SFU campus and around the Brentwood area have shallow bedrock pockets and unstable fill that make wall engineering a genuine specialty. We work with structural engineers who understand Burnaby's local geology and we build to their stamped designs. Burnaby has a real variety of terrain and the wall approach changes depending on whether you're on the mountain, on Capitol Hill, or in one of the flat valley-bottom neighbourhoods.

Burnaby Mountain · Capitol Hill · Brentwood

Vancouver

Vancouver's older residential neighbourhoods have some of the most varied retaining wall stock in the Lower Mainland, and as a retaining wall contractor in Vancouver we work across East Vancouver, Kerrisdale, Marpole, and South Vancouver regularly. The city's mix of pre-war homes, postwar bungalows, and modern infill means we encounter everything from 1960s dry-stack fieldstone walls to badly-installed timber walls to brand-new engineered designs. The City of Vancouver has its own permit process and its own engineering standards, and we know both. Heritage front-yard stone walls are something we take particular care with because they're part of what makes older Vancouver neighbourhoods look the way they do.

East Vancouver · Kerrisdale · Marpole

New Westminster

New Westminster's hillsides facing the Fraser River are among the steepest residential slopes in the Lower Mainland, and as a retaining wall contractor in New Westminster we build here on some of our most demanding projects. Queen's Park, Sapperton, and the West End all have dramatic grades where tall block and concrete walls protect heritage homes and basements from the hillside behind them. Almost every tall wall in New Westminster needs a City permit and a structural engineer's stamp, and we manage both. The character of this city's housing stock also means we often deal with walls that protect foundations that can't afford to fail.

Queen's Park · Sapperton · Quayside

Coquitlam

Burke Mountain and Westwood Plateau make Coquitlam one of the most active retaining wall markets in the Lower Mainland, and as a retaining wall contractor in Coquitlam we're on these hillsides regularly. The new builds and renovation projects on Burke Mountain deal with engineered fill that needs a proper drainage system behind every wall or it will fail in our wet winters. The clear-crush chimney and the daylighted drain pipe aren't optional here, they're the whole game. We build these walls to the design standard that the fill conditions demand, not to the minimum the homeowner will approve.

Burke Mountain · Westwood Plateau · Town Centre

Port Coquitlam

Port Coquitlam's relatively gentle grades make it one of the more approachable markets for retaining wall work, but the proximity to the Pitt and Coquitlam Rivers means drainage is still a serious design consideration. As a retaining wall contractor in Port Coquitlam we build low retaining walls, garden terraces, entry features, and driveway retainers that fit the character of this established residential community. The older subdivisions around Citadel Heights and Hyde Creek have sloped lots that call for block or stone walls to create usable grade, and we're familiar with the local soil conditions and permit requirements.

Downtown PoCo · Citadel Heights · Hyde Creek

Maple Ridge

Maple Ridge is where acreage and hillside residential come together, and as a retaining wall contractor in Maple Ridge we handle both. The Silver Valley development area and the older properties on the hillsides above the Alouette River have some of the most challenging grades we work on anywhere in the Lower Mainland. Boulder walls are our most common output here, machine-placed and keyed into the slope for maximum stability. Long terrace runs on 5-acre lots, horse paddock cuts, and hillside driveway access walls are all projects our crew builds regularly in Maple Ridge.

Silver Valley · Albion · Hammond

Abbotsford

Abbotsford is the eastern edge of our regular service area, and as a retaining wall contractor in Abbotsford we handle hillside projects on Sumas Mountain and wall work in the central residential neighbourhoods. Sumas Mountain presents real engineering challenges: the soils are variable and in some pockets soft enough that a geotechnical investigation is required before any tall wall design can responsibly be done. We coordinate that investigation when the site warrants it and use those results to drive the wall design. On central Abbotsford lots the work is more conventional, but we apply the same drainage and base prep standards we use everywhere.
